A wave of relief swept through Imo State as the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), founded by Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, extended support to 600 vulnerable residents many of them physically challenged, during a heartfelt outreach at the Government House, Owerri.

Represented by Hajia Nana Shettima, wife of the Vice President, Senator Tinubu reaffirmed her commitment to ensuring that no Nigerian is left behind. Food items and cash were distributed to beneficiaries in what many described as a life-changing moment. Shettima underscored the power of empowering women, urging them to embrace leadership roles and use their strengths to shape their communities.

Senator Tinubu’s message revealed more plans on the horizon: new economic empowerment programmes and grants targeted at persons living with disabilities, all geared towards building a more inclusive and supportive nation. She also announced upcoming RHI activities, including the closing of its Women’s ICT training programme and the launch of environmental clubs in schools to promote cleanliness and tree-planting.

Barr. Chioma Uzodimma, Imo State’s First Lady and Secretary of the RHI, described the outreach as an act rooted in empathy. She noted that the programme was designed to restore hope, strengthen communities, and remind Nigerians facing hardship that they are seen, valued, and supported. She expressed gratitude to donors and partners whose contributions have kept the initiative thriving.

For many beneficiaries from Ehime Mbano to Ihitte-Uboma and Onuimo the event was a blessing. Filled with gratitude, they praised the First Lady, Hajia Shettima, and Mrs. Uzodimma for their compassion toward vulnerable groups, widows, and orphans across the nation. They shared that the food supplies would bring much-needed relief to their families.

In Imo, the Renewed Hope Initiative did more than distribute palliatives, it rekindled dignity, optimism, and a sense of belonging among those who need it most.
