The Imo State Police Command has dismissed a viral video circulating on social media that falsely portrays a group of motorcycle riders in the state as bandits.
In a statement shared with media outlets, the Command described the video as deceptive and the work of mischief makers seeking to stir unnecessary fear among residents.
According to the police, the footage was recorded along Federal Polytechnic Road in Nekede during an operation where security personnel were clearing an illegal motorcycle park. The clip, they noted, was taken out of context and is now being circulated with malicious intent.
The Command urged members of the public to stop sharing the misleading video, warning that such content is designed to create panic and disturb the peace in the state.
Reaffirming its commitment to public safety, the Imo Police assured residents that strong security measures are firmly in place to prevent any threats or breaches.
The statement was signed by DSP Okoye Henry, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Imo State Police Command.
