Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma has responded to Afrobeats star Davido after the singer appealed to him to help ensure a peaceful governorship election in Osun State.
As Uzodimma replies Davido, the governor said he is not a voter in Osun State and explained that his role is limited to supporting the All Progressives Congress (APC) as one of the party’s leaders.
Uzodimma also rejected comments made by Ambrose Nwogwugwu, who described Davido’s appeal as “emotional blackmail.” He said the remarks reflected a personal opinion and did not represent his position or that of the APC campaign council.

he described the singer as “my son” and assured him that there was no reason to worry about his presence in Osun State.
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary and Special Adviser on Media, Oguwike Nwachuku, the governor said he never authorized anyone to speak on his behalf regarding Davido’s appeal.
Uzodimma explained that he is in Osun because he serves as Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum and Chairman of the APC Osun State Governorship Campaign Council.
He added that his responsibility is to campaign for the APC governorship candidate, Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, and not to influence the outcome of the election.
As Uzodimma replies Davido, he addressed the singer’s appeal, in which Davido referred to him as his “Daddy from Imo State.”
Davido urged the governor to promote peace and allow Osun residents to freely choose their preferred candidate during the August 15 governorship election.
The singer, whose wife Chioma is from Imo State, said he made the appeal because of reports suggesting there could be interference in the election.
Davido also clarified that he was not presenting those reports as confirmed facts but was calling for a peaceful and credible electoral process.
As Uzodimma replies Davido, he distanced himself from comments made by Ambrose Nwogwugwu, who criticized the singer’s appeal and described it as emotional blackmail.
The governor said Nwogwugwu expressed his personal opinion and did not have permission to speak on his behalf.
Uzodimma urged Davido, the people of Osun State, and the general public to disregard those remarks because they do not reflect his official position.
As Uzodimma replies Davido, he reaffirmed the APC’s commitment to peaceful, free, fair, and credible elections in Osun State.
The governor said political leaders have the right to campaign for their party’s candidates in any state without interfering with the democratic process.
Uzodimma added that he respects Davido and the people of Osun State. He also assured the singer that his role in the election would remain focused on supporting the APC candidate and observing the electoral process within the boundaries of the law.
