Woman who murdered her boyfriend at Asongama Estate arrested in Uyo after police recover N2.9m and Mercedes-Benz linked to the case.
Police in Akwa Ibom State have arrested Lorretta Anoh over the alleged murder of 36-year-old Chikoka Emeka Henry at Osongama Estate in Uyo.
The arrest followed the discovery of Henry’s body at his residence. Police said preliminary findings showed a deep cut on the deceased’s head.
According to investigators, Anoh was the last person seen entering Henry’s apartment on Tuesday. Her movements later attracted the attention of detectives investigating the death.
Police said a search connected to the suspect led to the recovery of N2,943,250 in cash. Investigators also said Anoh confessed to taking the money from the deceased.
The investigation also uncovered an alleged attempt to change the ownership of Henry’s Mercedes-Benz 4Matic. Police said Anoh had been making arrangements to transfer the vehicle into her personal name.
The black Mercedes-Benz, with registration number EKY 694 GP, was reportedly removed from the deceased’s residence and recovered by the police.
The case has now been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Ikot Akpan Abia for further investigation.
Akwa Ibom State Commissioner of Police, Amengheme Andrew, ordered detectives to conduct a discreet investigation into the circumstances surrounding Henry’s death.
The police command said investigators would examine the evidence and establish what happened before and after Henry’s death.
The commissioner also urged members of the public to be careful about the people they trust and allow into their homes.
The arrest has sparked concern among residents as detectives continue efforts to uncover the motive behind the alleged killing.
Police have not said that Anoh has been convicted of the alleged offence. The investigation remains ongoing, and further details may emerge as detectives continue their work.
