Governor Okpebholo Reaffirms Support for IDPs at Uhogua Camp

Governor Okpebholo Reaffirms Support for IDPs through relief materials donated to Uhogua Camp, strengthening Edo State’s humanitarian support for displaced families.

Governor Monday Okpebholo has once again demonstrated his administration’s commitment to improving the lives of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) by providing relief materials to residents of the Home for the Needy Foundation in Uhogua Community, Ovia North-East Local Government Area of Edo State.

Representing the Governor during the outreach, the Special Adviser on Religious Matters, Apostle Sule Faraday, said the donation reflects Governor Okpebholo’s unwavering dedication to supporting vulnerable citizens, particularly women and children displaced by armed conflicts, insurgency, natural disasters, and other humanitarian challenges.

Faraday explained that the intervention is part of the administration’s ongoing humanitarian efforts aimed at ensuring displaced persons have access to essential needs while restoring hope to families facing difficult circumstances.

He emphasized that Governor Okpebholo remains focused on protecting the welfare of vulnerable groups across Edo State, assuring residents that no one would be left behind in the government’s drive for inclusive development.

During the visit, the state government’s delegation distributed food items, toiletries, and other essential relief materials to residents of the camp. The outreach also featured prayers for the children and other occupants of the facility.

Expressing gratitude on behalf of the foundation, the camp’s Supervisor, Evelyn Omigie, thanked the Edo State Government for its continuous support, noting that the assistance has helped ease the daily struggles of displaced families. She, however, appealed for additional support to address the growing needs of the camp.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Sarah Gabriel described the donation as timely and impactful, saying the relief materials would significantly improve the well-being of residents. She commended Governor Okpebholo for remembering the camp and extending compassion to those facing hardship.

The Home for the Needy Foundation continues to provide shelter and care for displaced persons, especially women and children. Stakeholders at the event expressed optimism that the government’s intervention would inspire more individuals, corporate organizations, and philanthropists to partner in supporting displaced persons and other vulnerable groups across Edo State.
