Governor Ademola Adeleke has cast his vote in the Osun Election, joining other residents at his polling unit in Ede.

The Osun State governor voted at Abogunde Saagba, Ward 2, Unit 9, in Ede. He arrived at the polling station at about 8:30 a.m. to participate in the Osun Election.

Adeleke completed the required accreditation process before casting his ballot. He then joined other voters who came out early to exercise their civic rights.

The governor’s appearance at the polling unit added to the early activities surrounding the Osun Election across the state.

Meanwhile, the Nigeria Police Force has announced strict security measures for the Osun Election.

The police confirmed on Friday that Amotekun Corps operatives and other non-state security groups would not operate during the election.

The Force said only security agencies recognised by the Nigerian Constitution and relevant laws could provide security during the Osun Election.

Police authorities also enforced a movement restriction across Osun State. The restriction began at midnight on Friday, August 14, 2026, and will remain in place until 6 p.m. on Saturday, August 15.

The measure aims to prevent disruptions and maintain peace throughout the Osun Election.

Force Headquarters spokesperson Anietie Iniedu announced the restrictions in Abuja ahead of the poll.

With voting underway, security personnel remain deployed across the state as voters participate in the Osun Election.

The authorities have urged residents to comply with security directives and allow the electoral process to proceed peacefully.
