Two killed, two injured in suspected gun attack in Imo community. Armed men opened fire on a group of four people in a farm area near Irete Secondary Technical School in Irete Autonomous Community, Owerri West Local Government Area.
The incident occurred when the four persons visited the area for land inspection and security-related duties. Sources within the community said gunmen opened fire on the group. As a result, two men died and two others suffered injuries.
One of the deceased was identified as Chigaemezu Ozuzu from Umunjo, Irete. He worked as a security operative in the area. The second victim, whose identity was not immediately released, came from Amakohia-Ubi Autonomous Community in Owerri West.

The Amakohia-Ubi man was involved in land business. He had joined the group to inspect a property when the attack happened. Meanwhile, the other security operative, attached to the Imo State Security Organisation and the Home Branch Irete Vigilante Platform, sustained gunshot injuries but managed to escape.
A woman who accompanied the group for the land inspection also suffered bullet wounds. She was taken to a hospital in Irete, where she is receiving treatment.
