Crackdown in Edo: Governor Okpebholo Orders Cultists to Flee or Face Justice

In a decisive move to rid Edo State of criminal elements, Governor Senator Monday Okpebholo has issued a powerful ultimatum to cultists, kidnappers, and all criminal operatives: leave the state now or be crushed by the full force of the law.

This warning came on the heels of a dramatic demolition in Egbaen Community, located along Upper Siluko Road in Egor Local Government Area. The targeted structure a nondescript bungalow was revealed to be a hub for cult initiations and ritual activities. Acting on credible intelligence, the Edo State Special Security Squad, code-named “Operation Flush Out Cultists and Kidnappers,” executed the demolition in collaboration with other security forces and community leaders.

The building had reportedly been converted into a shrine and operational base by Marvelous Adetarami, identified as a high-ranking member of the Maphite cult group. Coordinator of the Security Squad, Idemudia Noah, stated that the property had previously been sealed after reports of cult activities surfaced. However, investigations confirmed that the group continued to use the premises under the cover of night.

Faced with their blatant disregard for the law, the government opted for demolition as a clear message to others. Local residents, long terrorized by the group’s activities, watched with relief and approval as the structure came down, marking the end of a reign of fear in their neighborhood.

The operation has been hailed as a turning point in the government’s fight against insecurity, with officials reaffirming their commitment to reclaiming every corner of the state from the grip of crime. Idemudia emphasized that there will be no sanctuary for cultists or criminals in Edo, declaring that Governor Okpebholo’s administration will continue to enforce law and order with unwavering resolve.

While the main suspect has yet to present himself to authorities, law enforcement agencies are actively pursuing the case. Meanwhile, citizens have been urged to remain alert and proactive by reporting any suspicious behavior or illicit gatherings in their areas.

With bold actions replacing empty promises, Edo State is sending a strong message: the days of impunity are over.
