The Chief of Defence Communication, Major General Edore Agbebaku, made his first operational tour of Operation HADIN KAI headquarters in Maiduguri on 10 December 2025, marking a significant step toward strengthening unified communication across Nigeria’s Armed Forces.
Welcomed by commanders and communication experts, Major General Agbebaku received detailed briefings on the theatre’s communication systems and engaged in discussions designed to improve information flow, technical support, and collaboration. He explained that the visit allowed him to assess existing infrastructure, interact directly with field commanders, and determine how the Defence Communication Department can further reinforce operations in the North East.
He revealed that the Defence Headquarters has begun approving modular earth observation centres for all military theatres—an initiative aimed at boosting surveillance and operational coordination. His mission, he emphasized, was to identify gaps, provide solutions, and advance the vision of seamless joint communication among the services. Upholding synergy, he assured OPHK of continued support and praised its personnel for their dedication to securing the region.
The Theatre Commander, Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, commended the CDC for his commitment to enhancing national security through robust communication systems. He underscored the indispensable role of communication in warfare, noting that improved communication assets would significantly elevate operational effectiveness.
The visit also featured interactions with senior officers, the signing of the Visitors’ Register, the presentation of a souvenir, and a group photograph—rounding off a day focused on unity, innovation, and strengthening Nigeria’s defence communication framework.
