Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to transforming the state, declaring that his passion for governance is rooted solely in delivering meaningful and lasting development to the people.
The governor made this known during an inspection tour of major projects in Udomi, Esan Central Local Government Area, where his administration is advancing ambitious infrastructure and tourism initiatives. Among the projects visited were a 150-bed Edo Specialist Hospital, a modern Udomi Town Hall designed to serve as both an event centre and revenue hub, and the expansive Udomi Holiday Resort, envisioned to host a golf course, film village, hotel, and other leisure facilities.
Speaking to community stakeholders, Governor Okpebholo said his vision for Edo is driven by action, not rhetoric. According to him, the projects on ground are proof of his resolve to move the state forward.
Reflecting on his long-held advocacy for modern infrastructure, the governor noted that ideas he once championed are now taking physical shape under his leadership. He stressed that Edo’s rich historical heritage should inspire progress rather than anchor the state to the past.
He recalled telling voters during his campaign that Edo must rise beyond being viewed as an ancient city, insisting that its early prominence and global recognition should propel it toward modernity. For him, the goal is clear: to leave Edo significantly better than he met it.
Governor Okpebholo assured residents that visible transformation, particularly in Benin City, would become evident within the next two years. He emphasized that development efforts would be evenly distributed across the state’s three senatorial districts to ensure inclusive growth.
The inspection tour was attended by senior government officials and party leaders, including retired General Cecil Isegaigbe, APC Edo Central leader; Sylvester Aigbobor, APC State Deputy Chairman; and other top officials, underscoring the administration’s collective drive to build a more modern and prosperous Edo State.
