
Football fans in Ebonyi has celebrated Former Super Eagles Skipper, Nwankwo Kanu popular known as Papillo as he turns 45 today.
Defunct Ebonyi Angels FC of Abalaliki Defender, James Onele who disclosed how soccer fans across the world were thrilled by Kanu’s skills and unique passes.
Meanwhile, Kanu has won two awards of African Footballer of the year, an AFCON silver Medal, four AFCON bronze medals among other honors.
Onele further stressed that, he was also the first Nigerian alongside Finidi George to win the prestigious UEFA champions league trophy with Ajax in 1995.
Kanu played 197 times for Arsenal, scoring 44 goals and was part of the club’s invisible team that did not lose any match in the 2003/2004 EPL season.
A teacher and football buff, Mrs Nnenna Obi, commended Kanu for been an inspiration to youths.
A banker and a football enthusiast, Chief Barry Ogoh, An Arsenal FC Supporter, Ejike Okoro and a host of others told active footballers to emulate Papillo.
Kanu however, advised youths to engage positively for societal benefit.
