Governor Otti Offers Civil Service Jobs to 9 Outstanding NYSC Honorees

The Governor of Abia State, Alex Otti has approved the immediate employment of nine former members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) who are indigenes of the state and recipients of the Presidential Honours Award.

The governor made the announcement while receiving the ex-Corps members, who were accompanied by the NYSC State Coordinator, Mrs. Gladys Adama, at the Government House, Umuahia.

Otti commended the awardees for their outstanding performance during their service year, describing their recognition at the national level as a source of pride for the state.

“As a government, we appreciate excellence. You have done the state proud. I am therefore lifting the embargo on employment temporarily to offer automatic employment to the nine of you,” Otti stated.

He directed the State Head of Service to issue appointment letters immediately and tasked the Attorney-General to facilitate the process without the need for interviews.

“All you need to do is complete your documentation. You can resume work on Monday,” he added.

The governor also acknowledged the efforts of the NYSC in promoting youth development and expressed appreciation to the state coordinator for her role in identifying and nurturing young talents.

Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mr. Chinomso Nwogu appreciated the governor for the recognition and the opportunity to serve the state.

The newly employed awardees are: Nwogu Chinonso Nwogo, Promise Anyanwu, Ezieme Uba, Ezinne Emmanuel, Grace Abia, Chiemela Nwafike, Dr. Mark Ugwa, Miracle Eke, and James Chukwuebuka.

The NYSC Presidential Honours Award is conferred annually on Corps members who distinguish themselves through exceptional service and contribution to national development during the mandatory one-year scheme.
