Midnight Crackdown in Uromi: Police Nab Four Suspected Cultists, Seize Illegal Weapons

In a decisive late-night operation, the Edo State Police Command has dealt a major blow to cult-related activities in Uromi, arresting four suspected members of a notorious confraternity and recovering a cache of illegal firearms.

Acting on credible intelligence, police operatives stormed key locations in Uromi at about 2:00 a.m. on March 24, 2026. The swift and coordinated raid led to the arrest of four individuals identified as Solomon Oboigbe (27), Fidelis Omale (26), Julius Oseyomon (64), and Abraham Erumosele Momo (54), all residents of different quarters within the town.

During the operation, officers recovered four pump-action guns, along with nine live cartridges and three expended shells—raising concerns about the extent of illegal arms circulation in the area.

Preliminary investigations reveal that the suspects are linked to the Eiye Confraternity, a group often associated with cult-related violence. Authorities believe the weapons were acquired through unlawful channels, further underscoring the need for continued enforcement efforts.

Commending the operatives for their professionalism and swift action, the Commissioner of Police reaffirmed the Command’s unwavering commitment to dismantling cult networks and curbing violent crime across Edo State. He emphasized that the ongoing crackdown will be sustained, with intensified efforts to mop up illegal firearms.

The suspects have since been charged to court following thorough investigations, marking a significant step toward justice.

The Police Command also called on residents to remain vigilant and continue providing timely and credible information, assuring the public that all tips will be handled with strict confidentiality.

As security agencies tighten their grip, residents can take solace in the renewed commitment to safeguarding lives and restoring peace across the state.
