Edo State Deputy Governor, Rt Hon. Philip Shaibu has directed his legal team to withdraw a suit leveled against his principal, Governor Godwin Obaseki in a move toward building a peace pact between the duo.
In a statement signed and released by the Deputy Governor, cited the role played in the intervention of well-meaning Nigerians, including Traditional and Religious leaders across the state as his reasons for the withdrawal.
Recall that in the wake of the disturbing crisis, Comrade Philip Shaibu instituted a legal process praying the court to halt any move instigated by the Governor towards impeaching him.
A development that infuriated the Governor who described the action of his Deputy as not only betraying but a coup plotted to oust him as the Governor.
In what seems a new twist on Tuesday, the case was billed for hearing by the Federal High Court with Suit no PHC/ABJ/CS/1027/2023, a statement was presented on his intention to withdraw his case.
While thanking those key actors who stood firm on reuniting the duo, Comrade Shaibu also hailed the decision of the Governor who accepted to take the path of peace.
The issue has in the past weeks generated tension at Denise Osadebe Avenue, the home to the Edo State Government.
