Okpebholo Hails APC By-Election Sweep, Predicts Landslide Victory for Tinubu in 2027

Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has hailed the victories of Senator-elect Joe Ikpea and House of Representatives Member-elect Omosede Igbinedion in the just-concluded Edo Central Senatorial and Ovia Federal Constituency by-elections, calling the results a strong signal that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will enjoy a smooth ride to victory in Edo come 2027.

In a congratulatory statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Fred Itua, the governor described the APC’s clean sweep as a resounding endorsement of the party’s growing popularity in the state and the people’s confidence in its leadership.

“This is more than just a win it’s a statement,” Governor Okpebholo said. “The people of Edo have once again spoken loudly and clearly, expressing trust in Joe Ikpea and Omosede Igbinedion to represent them at the National Assembly. Their victories show that the APC is firmly rooted in Edo, and 2027 will be a walk-over for President Tinubu.”

He praised the electorate for turning out in large numbers to vote, describing their enthusiasm as a reflection of their desire for responsive leadership and real progress in their communities.

Okpebholo also expressed confidence in the ability of both newly elected lawmakers to champion the interests of their constituents and attract meaningful development to Edo Central and Ovia.

“Ikpea and Igbinedion are seasoned, capable individuals who will be strong voices in the National Assembly. I trust they will work with dedication to ensure their constituencies are not left behind in our development drive,” he said.

The governor extended his appreciation to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for conducting what he called a transparent and credible election, and he also commended security agencies for maintaining peace throughout the process.

As he congratulated the winners, Governor Okpebholo urged all stakeholders to rally behind them in their legislative duties, stressing that Edo’s development should transcend party lines.

“On behalf of the government and the good people of Edo State, I congratulate Joe Ikpea and Omosede Igbinedion. We look forward to partnering with them to deliver impactful representation and lasting change to our people,” the governor added.

With the APC tightening its grip on Edo politics, Governor Okpebholo’s bold assertion about 2027 may not be far-fetched—especially as party momentum builds ahead of the next general election.
