In a decisive move to recalibrate governance and enhance public sector performance, Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has appointed 17 new officials across vital departments, agencies, and institutions in what is being seen as a major administrative shake-up.

The appointments, which take immediate effect, were announced through an official statement by Secretary to the State Government, Professor Kenneth Kalu, on Monday. The latest wave of appointees signals a continued push by the Otti administration to reinforce capacity and accountability within the state’s leadership ranks.

One of the most prominent changes came within the Protocol Department, where Uche Mark Nwosu has been named Chief Protocol Officer. Supporting him will be Ikechukwu Nwankwo as Deputy Chief Protocol Officer, alongside a new team that includes Adaeze Ivy Iroegbu as Chief Moderator, and Emmanuel Paul Irechi, Amarachi Inyama, and Augustine Chukwuebuka as Protocol Officers.

In the education sector, Governor Otti turned his attention to the Abia State College of Education (Technical), Arochukwu. Dr. Joe Emeson was appointed Chairman of the Governing Council, while Dr. (Mrs.) Idowu O. Eluwa takes over as Provost two appointments expected to drive forward long-needed reforms in the institution.

Further afield, the Abia State Liaison Office in Abuja received a new face, with Iheanyi Frank Chinasa assuming the role of Chief Liaison Officer and National Assembly Liaison. In the transport sector, Emmanuel M. Ufomba now chairs the Abia State Transport Corporation, supported by new board members Godanswer P. Kalu, Salomey Onwu, Kingsley Oriaku, and Onyebuchi Nna.

The Governor also expanded his advisory team with the appointment of Chima Raymond Ukwa as Special Assistant on Sports, Prince Christian Enwerenmadu as Special Adviser on Agriculture, and Mrs. Chinenye Nwaka as Senior Special Assistant on Women Affairs positions aimed at injecting expertise into key areas of social and economic development.

Governor Otti’s administration has consistently emphasized performance, innovation, and integrity as cornerstones of his governance agenda.
