A Suspected Boko Haram logistics supplier has been arrested in Adamawa after troops and local hunters tracked his movements in Hong LGA.
Troops of the Nigerian Army have arrested a suspected Boko Haram logistics supplier during a joint operation with local hunters in Adamawa State.
The suspect, identified as 40-year-old Mallam Badamasi Maikudi, was arrested in Garaha town, Hong Local Government Area.
Security sources said troops became suspicious after observing Maikudi’s movements within the community. His activities reportedly raised concerns among security personnel operating in the area.
The arrest was carried out by troops of the 232 Battalion, Tactical, working alongside a group of local hunters.
According to preliminary information, Maikudi allegedly supplied food and energy soft drinks to a location suspected to be linked to terrorists.
His alleged role as a supplier has prompted military authorities to investigate his activities and determine the extent of his suspected links to the terrorist network.
Counter-insurgency and security expert Zagazola Makama disclosed the arrest in a post on his X handle on Saturday. He said the information came from military sources familiar with the operation.
Maikudi remains in military custody while investigators question him about his alleged activities.
The investigation will focus on identifying the intended recipients of the supplies and determining whether the suspect had direct or indirect links with Boko Haram members.
Authorities are also expected to establish how long the alleged supply operation had been taking place and whether other individuals were involved.
The arrest comes as Nigerian security forces continue operations against terrorist groups and their support networks in parts of the North-East.
Security agencies often target logistics networks because food, drinks, transport and other supplies can help armed groups maintain their operations.
The military has yet to announce further details about the investigation or confirm whether additional arrests have been made in connection with the case.
The suspect remains innocent of any offence unless proven guilty in court.
