Police arrest Adeleke’s aide Alalade Bukola Felix, popularly known as Machiavelli, during a midnight operation at his residence in Osun State.
Alalade is a Special Assistant on Media to Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke.
The incident reportedly happened around 1 a.m. on Monday. According to Sahara Reporters, police officers arrived at his home and ordered him to come outside.
However, his wife, Folakemi, said the family did not immediately open the door. She explained that they could not confirm who was outside the house.
According to her account, the officers later forced their way inside.
Police Arrest Adeleke’s Aide in Midnight Osun Raid
Folakemi said she first noticed lights outside the residence. She then woke her husband after seeing reflections through the window.
Soon after, the men began calling Alalade’s name. They also ordered him to come outside.
The family, however, refused to open the door.
Folakemi alleged that the officers then broke through the entrance and entered the house.
“When he woke up, they were shouting his name that he should come out,” she said. “But we refused to open the door for them.”
She added that the officers eventually forced their way inside.
“They tried until they burst in by themselves. They broke through the door by themselves,” she said.
According to Folakemi, the family pleaded with the officers after they entered. Despite the pleas, she said, they took her husband away.
Police Identify Themselves
Folakemi said the men identified themselves as police officers. However, she claimed they did not state the specific unit or police formation they represented.
“They said they were policemen, because we asked them, ‘Who are you?’” she said.
“They didn’t even say from where. They were just banging the door that we should open.”
She further alleged that the officers damaged the door before entering the residence.
A voice recording reportedly made during the incident also captured Alalade asking the men to identify themselves.
In the recording, he reportedly said he was willing to come outside voluntarily. Sounds suggesting that the entrance was being forced open could also reportedly be heard.
Adeleke’s Aide Taken to State CID
Following the operation, the operatives took Alalade away from the residence.
Folakemi later said she received information that her husband had been taken to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Osogbo.
“I just heard from him. I was told he was taken to State CID, Osogbo. That is the latest information I got,” she said.
However, she said the family had not been told why Alalade was arrested.
According to her, the officers did not explain the alleged offence before taking him away.
The circumstances surrounding the arrest remain a developing issue. Further details about the reason for the arrest and the police unit involved are expected to clarify the situation.
