INEC Declares Adeleke Winner of Osun Governorship Election

INEC declares Adeleke winner of the Osun governorship election after he defeated APC candidate Bola Oyebamiji by 66,252 votes.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Ademola Adeleke the winner of the Osun governorship election.

The incumbent governor, who contested under the Accord Party, secured 511,067 votes across the state.

His closest rival, All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate Bola Oyebamiji, polled 444,815 votes.

Adeleke therefore won the election by a margin of 66,252 votes.

INEC Announces Adeleke as Winner

INEC’s returning officer, Professor Joshua Olalekan Ogunwole, announced the final result on Sunday.

The declaration came after officials completed the collation of results from all 30 local government areas in Osun State.

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate, Najeem Salaam, finished third with 17,180 votes.

The result gives Adeleke another term as governor of Osun State.

Adeleke Thanks President Tinubu

Following his victory, Adeleke thanked President Bola Tinubu for congratulating him.

The governor said Tinubu personally called to acknowledge his election victory.

Adeleke described the result as a victory for democracy and the people of Osun State.

He also praised the president for supporting the democratic process.

“I want to seize this opportunity to thank Mr. President. He has called me and he has congratulated me,” Adeleke said.

The governor added that Tinubu had helped ensure that democracy continued to thrive.

Adeleke Expects Oyebamiji’s Congratulations

Adeleke also reacted to his relationship with his main challenger, Bola Oyebamiji.

The governor said he expected Oyebamiji to call and congratulate him after the election.

Adeleke urged supporters to view the result as a victory for Osun State rather than a personal triumph.

He described the outcome as a “no victor, no vanquished” situation.

The governor also thanked God and the people of Osun State for their support.

With INEC’s declaration now complete, Adeleke can begin preparations for his next term while attention turns to the APC’s response to the result.
