Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has pledged strong support for the family of the late Independent Television and Radio (ITV) reporter, Kingsley Uchegbu. The promise came after the journalist’s sudden death, which shocked colleagues, friends, and the media community in Edo State.

Government Reaffirms Commitment

During the visit, the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Prince Kassim Afegbua, spoke on behalf of the state government. He stated clearly that the administration would stand by the family. Also, he stressed that the late journalist’s contributions to public service communication would not be forgotten.

In addition, Afegbua described Kingsley Uchegbu as dedicated, humble, and highly committed to his job. He noted that the journalist consistently carried out his duties with professionalism. Even when faced with long and difficult daily commutes, he remained faithful to his work.

However, the commissioner also acknowledged the emotional pain left behind. Therefore, he encouraged the widow to remain strong. He urged her to focus on the well-being of her children. He added that the government’s support would help ease the family’s burden.

Meanwhile, members of the Winners Chapel congregation also responded to the visit. A church elder, Dr. Magnus Oshiogwe, expressed gratitude to the Edo State Government. He said the condolence visit came quickly and showed genuine care.

Furthermore, he explained that the gesture reflected respect for the late journalist. According to him, such attention brings comfort during difficult times. He also appealed for continued government support for the family. In his words, consistent assistance would help the widow and children adjust to life after the loss.

In addition, Oshiogwe described Kingsley as a committed church member. He said his death was deeply painful for the congregation. Moreover, he noted that church members and pastors had continued to support the grieving family through prayers and visits.
