Osun Election: Aregbesola’s Polling Unit Sees High Turnout After Thug Attack

Osun Election: Aregbesola’s Polling Unit Records High Turnout

Osun Election sees high voter turnout at Rauf Aregbesola’s polling unit after suspected thugs disrupted voting earlier in the day.

The Osun Election recorded a strong voter turnout at the polling unit of former Osun State Governor Rauf Aregbesola on Saturday.

Aregbesola, who serves as the National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), votes at Ifofin Unit 001, Ward 8, in Ilesa East Local Government Area.

Despite an earlier attack by suspected thugs, many residents returned to the polling area to cast their votes.

A voter, Adeniyi Taye, praised residents for turning out in large numbers. He said the crowd showed the strong interest of voters in the election.

Three polling booths are located close to one another in the area. Voting had started at two of the booths, while Ward 8, Unit 10, experienced a delay.

Presiding Officer Elizabeth Adaramaja said INEC ad hoc staff initially lacked chairs and tables at the polling unit.

However, ADC party agent Samson Grace disputed the complaint. She said the materials had arrived and the issue had been resolved.

According to Grace, the delay lasted only a short time. Voting resumed after officials addressed the problem.

The development followed an earlier disruption at Aregbesola’s polling unit. Suspected thugs reportedly invaded the area and caused panic among voters.

The attack forced some voters to leave the polling unit for safety, according to reports.

However, the strong turnout later in the day showed that many residents were determined to participate in the Osun Election.

The incident adds to a series of security concerns reported at some polling locations across Osun State.

Voters and electoral officials now face the task of completing the process peacefully as voting continues across the state.

The Osun Election remains closely watched as voters decide who will lead Osun State for the next term.
