Police Begin Probe As Mystery Parcel With Bullets Sent To First Bank MD after live ammunition was found in a package delivered to his residence.
The Lagos State Police Command has opened an investigation after a parcel with live ammunition arrived at the home of FirstBank Managing Director, Oluwasegun Alebiosu.
Police Commissioner Tijani Fatai confirmed the incident during a briefing in Ikeja.
Fatai said the parcel contained two rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition.
A gateman collected the package for Alebiosu. When the parcel was opened, those present found the ammunition inside.
Alebiosu reported the incident to security agencies without delay.
Police detectives quickly started an investigation. They want to find the sender and uncover the reason for the delivery.
Fatai described the case as a serious security concern.
He said officers are exploring different leads. They also want to know if someone sent the parcel as a threat.
The incident drew attention after reports surfaced online. Earlier, a source within the bank denied that it happened.
Investigators are reviewing information from Alebiosu. They are also speaking with people who may help the case.
