Edo Forest Raid
Security operatives in Edo State raided a kidnappers’ hideout in Amah community, Etsako West Local Government Area. During the operation, they arrested two suspects.
The operation involved the Edo State Special Security Squad, the Edo State Security Corps, and the Nigeria Police Force. The team acted after it received reports about kidnapping activities in the area.
First, the operatives met at Eko-Waya community in Esan Central. Next, they entered the forest and searched the camp.
After the raid, the spokesperson of the Special Security Squad, Eribo Enwata, spoke to journalists. He said the team went after a wanted suspect known as “Best.”
According to Enwata, the suspect controls kidnapping activities from the forest hideout. However, he escaped before the security team arrived.
Enwata also warned criminals to leave Edo State. In addition, he asked residents to report suspicious activities to security agencies.
Meanwhile, the Zonal Commander of the Edo State Security Corps, Joel Aidamebor, said the wanted suspect brought kidnappers from other parts of the country into Edo forests.
During the raid, the team found charms and military uniforms inside the camp. Also, the two suspects told journalists that “Best” brought them into the area.
Furthermore, authorities said they would destroy the hideout soon. They believe this will stop criminals from returning to the camp.
The operation supports the anti-crime efforts of Governor Monday Okpebholo and his administration.
