At least eight soldiers were feared killed in a Borno bomb explosion after a military convoy reportedly struck an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) allegedly planted by suspected Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters.
The incident reportedly happened on Thursday in Borno State. Troops attached to the 24 Task Force Brigade, Dikwa, were returning from Maiduguri after escorting food supplies and other military logistics.
According to military sources quoted by SaharaReporters, the lead vehicle in the convoy triggered the explosive device. The vehicle was a gun truck leading the convoy back to Dikwa.

The source said the gun truck ran into the IED while returning to Dikwa. He added that all the soldiers inside the vehicle died instantly.
