Idogbo Bridge repair work begins after the Edo State Government’s swift intervention following damage caused by a logistics company’s truck.
Idogbo Bridge repair work has started after the Edo State Government stepped in following damage caused by a truck belonging to a logistics company along the Benin Bypass.
The quick response by the Edo State Government led the company responsible for the damage to begin immediate repairs. The work is taking place under the Idogbo Bridge at Kilometer 35 on the Benin Bypass.
During an inspection visit, the Special Adviser on Projects Implementation and Monitoring, Phoebe Williams-Bello, said Governor Monday Okpebholo remains committed to protecting both federal and state government assets across Edo State.
According to her, the governor acted immediately after receiving reports about the damaged section of the bridge. As a result, the relevant government agencies inspected the site and directed the company to begin repair work without delay.
“We inspected the damaged section, and the company signed an agreement to restore the road. The road is now being repaired to allow the safe movement of vehicles,” she said.
Williams-Bello praised the cooperation among the agencies involved. She also noted that work has continued despite the rainy weather. Furthermore, she said the governor remains focused on protecting public infrastructure across the state.
The Federal Controller of Works in Edo State, Engr. Babatunde Tajudeen, also commended the logistics company for responding quickly to the government’s directive.
He explained that the company mobilized workers and equipment immediately after receiving instructions to repair the damaged section beneath the Idogbo Bridge. Therefore, restoration work is already progressing.
Meanwhile, the Permanent Secretary of the Edo State Ministry of Works, Engr. John Obanor, appealed to motorists to remain patient while the repairs continue. He urged road users to obey traffic signs and cooperate with traffic officials to ensure smooth traffic flow.
The Chairman of the Edo State Public Property Protection Committee, Eugene Okoloise, also visited the site. He returned the keys of the truck involved after confirming that the company had started the agreed repair work.
The contractor supervising the project, Engr. June, said workers have moved heavy equipment to the site. He added that the team will work day and night to complete the Idogbo Bridge repair work as quickly as possible.
Secretary of Idogbo Community in Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area, Mr. Friday Uhunamure, thanked Governor Monday Okpebholo for his swift response. He also appreciated the government agencies that ensured the Idogbo Bridge repair work started without unnecessary delays.
The Idogbo Bridge repair work reflects the Edo State Government’s commitment to protecting public infrastructure and ensuring that damaged roads are restored quickly for the safety of residents and motorists.
