The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) arrested six suspects for allegedly vandalising an oil pipeline and stealing petroleum products. The operation took place in Pagada I, Dubi Ward, Gwagwalada Area Council, Abuja.

NSCDC officers carried out the raid on July 18 after receiving credible intelligence. They reportedly caught the suspects while they drilled into an oil pipeline. The suspects allegedly siphoned Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) into jerrycans and plastic containers.

Investigators said one suspect allegedly recruited the others for the operation. They also accused three local vigilante members of protecting the group during the illegal activity.

The operation led to the recovery of several items. Officers seized two locally made firearms, two motorcycles and a hand drilling machine. They also recovered four 25-litre jerrycans filled with suspected PMS, two empty jerrycans and a shovel.

The NSCDC described pipeline vandalism as a serious crime. The agency said the offence damages critical national infrastructure. It also disrupts fuel supply, threatens public safety and harms the environment.
