Governor Okpebholo Charges Newly Trained Forest Guards to Secure Edo Forest Areas as 497 recruits begin operations to fight crime and protect communities.

Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo has charged 497 newly trained forest guards to secure ungoverned forest areas across the state.

He gave the charge during their passing-out parade at the Police Training School, Ogida Barracks, Benin City.

The governor spoke through his Chief of Staff, Musa Yakubu.

He said his administration remains committed to improving security across Edo State.

Okpebholo congratulated the recruits for completing their training.

He urged them to serve with discipline, integrity, and professionalism.

The governor said the Forest Guard initiative is a key part of his security plan.

He explained that the guards will help reclaim forests from criminal groups.

They will also support law enforcement agencies and improve public safety.

“The training you have received is only the beginning of your duty,” he said.

“You are ambassadors of Edo State. Show courage, discipline, and dedication. Protect our forests and support security agencies. Help keep our communities safe.”

Okpebholo assured the recruits that hard work and professionalism would earn recognition and rewards.

National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu also congratulated the graduates.

Commissioner of Police Aniefiok Akpan represented Ribadu at the ceremony.

He announced that authorities will deploy the forest guards across all 18 local government areas.

The deployment will focus on ungoverned forest areas.

The new security team will help tackle crime, improve surveillance, and strengthen safety across Edo State.
