Governor Okpebholo says Edo State will become a modern city

Governor Okpebholo says Edo State will become a modern city before the end of his first term as road and drainage projects progress.

Governor Monday Okpebholo has said Edo State will become a modern city before the end of his first term in office.

He made the promise on Tuesday during an inspection of ongoing projects across Edo South Senatorial District.

The governor visited several road and erosion control projects in Benin City.

He inspected the Ekiuwa–University of Benin Road, also known as Temboga Road Extension.

He also visited Oba Erediauwa Road off Upper Mission Road.

In addition, he inspected the Ikpoba Hill Flyover project.

The governor also checked work at the Adesuwa Flyover on Sapele Road.

During the tour, Okpebholo expressed happiness over the pace of work at the project sites.

According to him, contractors have made steady progress in different parts of the state.

“As you can see, we are making progress. A lot has been done in Edo State,” he said.

The governor pointed to the Adesuwa Flyover project as one of the major achievements.

He said workers had already asphalted part of the road.

He added that residents would soon see more improvements on the project.

“In the next few weeks, you will see significant progress on this road,” he stated.

Furthermore, Okpebholo said the inspection covered Uteh Palace Road and Ramat Park.

He also visited an ongoing stormwater drainage project.

The drainage project stretches for nearly seven kilometres into the Ikpoba River.

According to him, the projects will improve road transport and reduce flooding in many communities.

“We have achieved so much. If we continue like this, Edo will become a modern city before the end of our first four years,” the governor added.

Meanwhile, Okpebholo thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for supporting his administration.

He said the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda has helped development in Edo State.

“Without the support of Mr President, we cannot achieve all these projects,” he said.

The governor promised to continue delivering projects that would improve the lives of Edo people.

Residents of the affected communities welcomed the governor during the inspection.

Many of them sang songs and praised the administration for fixing roads and tackling erosion problems.

Some residents said many of the roads had remained abandoned for years.

Others expressed joy over the ongoing drainage work in flood-prone areas.

Several government officials joined the governor during the inspection tour.

The projects are part of the administration’s efforts to improve infrastructure and transform Edo State.
