Gov Okpebholo Assures New IGP of Support as Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, welcomed the new Inspector General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, to Government House in Benin City.

The governor promised stronger support for the Nigeria Police Force. He also asked for closer teamwork to improve security in Edo State.

The IGP arrived with top police officers from different commands and units across the country.

Governor Okpebholo congratulated Disu on his new appointment. He described him as a hardworking and disciplined officer.

According to the governor, Disu earned the position through dedication and years of service.

In addition, Okpebholo recalled the role the IGP played during the period of his election.

He praised Disu for staying calm and acting professionally during tense moments.

The governor said that attitude helped to keep peace and order at the time.

Okpebholo also thanked police officers serving in Edo State. He said they work hard every day to protect lives and property.

Furthermore, the governor praised the officers for their sacrifice and commitment to duty.

He said the state government would continue to support security agencies in Edo State.

However, Okpebholo asked for stronger cooperation between the police and the state government.

He explained that better teamwork would help reduce crime and improve safety across the state.

The governor added that security remains one of the top priorities of his administration.

Earlier, IGP Disu said he visited Edo State to meet officers and men of the state command.

He also thanked Governor Okpebholo for supporting police operations in the state.

According to the police chief, the state government has helped officers carry out their duties more effectively.

He praised the governor for fulfilling promises made to support security agencies.

At the same time, the IGP appealed for more support to strengthen police operations.

Disu stressed that fighting crime requires support from both the police and the public.

In the same way, the IGP said police commissioners now share their phone numbers with residents.

He said the move would improve communication and help people report crimes quickly.

The police chief also said the force now focuses more on intelligence gathering and community policing.

According to him, strong community ties can help reduce crime and improve public safety.

Many residents believe stronger cooperation between the police and the Edo State Government will improve security.

Security experts also believe teamwork and quick information sharing can help fight crime faster.

Governor Okpebholo received the delegation alongside Deputy Governor Dennis Idahosa, Chief of Staff Hon. Yakubu Musa, Commissioner for Information and Strategy Prince Kassim Afegbua, and retired General Cecil Esekhaigbe.

The meeting ended with fresh promises from both sides to keep working together for peace and safety in Edo State.
