Massive turnout at APC presidential primary reflects growing grassroots support, Okpebholo says as Edo rallies behind Tinubu’s 2027 ambition.
Governor Monday Okpebholo has declared that Edo State is fully prepared to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 election.
The governor made the statement after the APC presidential primary in Ward 2, Udomi, Esan Central Local Government Area.
The primary took place at Udomi Primary School, Okpebholo’s home ward. Party members voted through the Option A4 system approved by the APC National Working Committee.
Okpebholo described the turnout as massive and peaceful. He said the exercise reflected rising support for President Tinubu and the APC in Edo State.
“Today’s primary was peaceful, and our people came out happily to vote for Mr. President,” he said.
According to the governor, the large turnout points to what the 2027 general election may look like in the state.
He expressed confidence that Edo would play a major role in Tinubu’s re-election bid.
“We are ready for the 2027 election,” Okpebholo stated. “We are ready to deliver Edo State to President Tinubu.”
The governor also insisted that the target of 2.5 million votes remains achievable.
“Some people may doubt it, but it is possible,” he added.
Okpebholo linked the growing support for the APC to ongoing development projects across the state.
He said investments in roads, healthcare, education, and rural development were improving public confidence in government.
“The people can see development in their communities,” the governor said.
Returning Officer for the exercise, Hon. Ehimegbe Favour, confirmed that officials conducted the primary according to APC guidelines.
He explained that party members presented their APC membership cards before voting under the Option A4 system.
Favour disclosed that President Tinubu secured 360 votes in the ward primary.
He added that the Option A4 voting method ensured transparency because voting and counting took place openly before party members and observers.
