Igboho fight against bandits gains attention as he seeks government approval to secure South-West forests from kidnappers.
Yoruba Nation activist, Sunday Adeyemo, also known as Igboho, has asked the Federal Government and the Oyo State Government to support his plan to fight bandits in the South-West.
Igboho said he and his team are ready to enter forests where kidnappers and armed gangs are believed to be hiding. He explained that the operation would only begin after getting official approval from the government.
According to him, his group has strong local knowledge and enough manpower to help security agencies protect communities. He said many villages in the region now live in fear because of frequent attacks and kidnappings.
Igboho stated that his mission is to remove criminals from Yoruba forests and restore peace to affected areas. He also said working with security agencies is important. This, he noted, would help avoid conflict and ensure proper coordination during operations.
In recent years, many residents in Oyo and other South-West states have complained about rising insecurity. Farmers have also raised concerns over attacks on farmlands. Some travelers now fear using certain roads because of reports of kidnappings.
The activist said people can no longer continue living in fear while criminals operate freely inside forests. He added that local support and cooperation with security agencies can help improve safety in rural communities.
Many observers believe Igboho’s latest statement shows a change in approach. In the past, he was known for openly confronting authorities. This time, he is calling for cooperation with the government and security agencies.
Igboho Fight Against Bandits
The call comes as Nigerians continue to demand stronger action against banditry and violent crimes across the country. President Bola Tinubu and security agencies have faced growing pressure to improve security and protect lives.
Residents in many affected communities hope fresh efforts and better cooperation will help reduce kidnappings and restore peace in the South-West region.
